c. RO unit (membrane array)
RO unit is the actuator of the whole desalting system, whose role is to remove soluble salts, colloids, organic compounds, and microorganisms in the water. The unit is equipped with three set ROs, each has 219m3/h net output, more than 75% recovery rate, and more than 97% total desalting rate (within the life-term). RO membrane adopts TML20-370 anti-contamination RO membrane element proced by Japan Toray Company [Length: 40〃; Diameter: 8〃; Membrane area: 370 square feet (34 m2); Single membrane desalting rate: 99.5%]. Each set RO adopts design of two-sections per grade (需要自己核實) and 62 seven-meter-long pressure containers lining in 41:21 matrix, each pressure container is internally equipped with seven membranes, thus each RO set needs 434 membranes and a total of 1736 membranes for 4 sets. The mean membrane flux is 14.7LMH being in accordance with super-filtration water RO design guideline and having large margins.

c. RO cleaning unit
RO pressure is generally operating at 1.3-1.8MPa. After long-term running, RO membrane array may be contaminated by some contaminations uneasy to be washed off, for example, long-term accumulation of trace salt scales and some organic compounds can result in declining of the performance of the membrane moles and higher running pressure, and therefore, RO membrane array must be cleaned with some chemicals to recover its normal desalting function. When super-filtration was used as pretreatment, it should be cleaned every 3 months, and every cleaning lasts about 2-4 hours. The unit is equipped with a set of cleaning equipment including a stainless steel safeguard filter, two cleaning pumps (1 in use & 1 for preparation) and a cleaning agent tank. The cleaning unit is operated automatically.

d. RO washing unit
RO system is equipped with automatic washing unit, which washes the membrane element surface with RO-proced water as supply to avoid contamination sediment on the membrane surface. The unit is equipped with two wash pumps (1 in use & 1 for preparation) and a washing tank.

e. Control instrument
Serials of online measuring instruments are equipped to control and monitor the normal running of RO system, including conctivity instrument, flow meter, pressure meter, sampling apparatus, and high-low voltage protecting switch, etc. RO is operated automatically, whose condensed water discharging flow is fixed according to the steady-flow-valve installed in the pipelines, and the proced water is set with high-pressure proof bursting membrane.

4.5.5.1 RO dosing unit

a. Anti-scalant dosing unit
To avoid carbonates, sulfates, and Ca2+ or Mg2+ chemical scales appearing in RO condensed water end, specially in the condensed water side of the last membrane element in RO pressure container, hence affecting the performance of the membrane elements under fairly high recovery rate, anti-scalant is needed to add to RO feed water. •High anti-scale efficiency. The maximum allowable value of LSI index in original water is 2.8, and it can control inorganic scales effectively within this range.
•Its major components are small-molecular organic phosphorus compounds, which have the advantages of water-stability, uneasy to degrade, non-proction of microorganism-nutritive n-phosphates, and non-pollution to the environment after discharging.
•It』s an excellent dispersant, which can control ferrous-, aluminum- and heavy metal pollution and disperse ferrous-colloids and tiny particles blocking micro-holes in the membrane.
The anti-scalant dosing unit mainly includes two America Milton Roy Company electromagnetic diaphragm meter pumps (1 in use & 1 for preparation) and a solution tank.
Anti-scalant dosing control adopts signal-output-coupled methods of dosing meter pumps and feed water online flow meter to reach to regulate dosage automatically.

b. Recer dosing unit
RO compound membrane demands less than 0.1mg/l chlorine resie contained in the feed water, and the addition of recers such as sodium hydrogen sulfite is to neutralize oxidizing components such as chlorine resie contained in the feed water, to avoid their damages to RO membrane element.
The dosing unit mainly includes two mechanically diaphragm meter pumps (1 in use & 1 for preparation) proced by America Milton Roy Company and a solution tank. Dosages can be regulated automatically according to 4-20mA signals of Online Chlorine Resie (ORP) (自己再核實一下，這個很不準確), they also can be regulated manually.

4.5.5.2 RO unit
RO is a desalting technology used the widest in current water treatment systems having the advantages of extremely high desalting efficiency, safety and flexible running, and simple operation.
RO system includes safeguard filter, high pressure pump, RO membrane array, cleaning unit, washing unit, as well as control instrument.

a. Safeguard filter
Solid particles can damage membrane elements ring their running, thus each set of RO is preset with a 5mm safeguard filter, whose role is to prevent particles more than 5μ size in pre-processing water outlet from entering into RO system. These particles may puncture RO membrane mole after pressuring by the high-pressure pump and results in salt leakage and/or scratch the impellers of the high-pressure pump. Safeguard filter is made of 316 stainless steel material and adopts melt-blown polypropylene filtering element proced by America OSMONICS Company, and it has the advantages of deep bed filtration, large contamination capacity, long life, and easy to be replaced. When the inlet/outlet pressure difference (generally 0.07-0.1MPa) of the filter reaches to more than the setting value, the filtering element should be replaced.

b. High pressure pump
High pressure pump provides RO membrane arrays with enough feed water pressure, and maintain the normal running of RO membrane. Every RO inlet in the unit is equipped with a horizontal multi-stage centrifugal pump proced by America Pentair Company as well as a pump for preparation every four sets of RO units.
